No study needed Georgia should raise the age of sentencing Juveniles to 18 for brain development

There are several scientific studies that says juveniles brain development in the area of reasoning is not fully developed at the current age that Georgia classifies and sentences them as adults that is inhumane it is like sending them to a death chamber. The adult prison system requires people to be able to think quick on their feet to navigate and to steer away from further issues which may include adult rape, intimidation and bullying. The children become emotionally hardened with the trauma associated with that type of environment. A better solution is to have them placed in specialized programs in the juvenile system supported by the courts and DFCS and providers with intensive brain development activity focused treatment. Which includes a focus on root causes and may include anger controls, cognitive decision making skill building centered around emotions, resiliency, abuses/neglect, depression and/or trauma management provided in individual, group sessions with case management. All juveniles needs a family impact review and assessment of their behavioral cognitive and brain development or deficits to identify which types of programs to have within the juvenile system as wrap around therapeutic support to guide brain development and other needs to have them learn the skills to navigate society in a proactive positive view of their longer term goals.
